Single origin from Sri Lanka

Jackfruit from Sri Lanka - neutral powder, plant-based.

The jackfruit is the largest tree fruit in the world - and harvested just before ripening, it tastes surprisingly neutral. That is exactly what makes our jackfruit powder so versatile: hardly any flavour of its own, but a good plant-based substitute for flour and binding agents. Our fruits grow in the tropical lowland regions of Sri Lanka with our partner families, are separated by hand, cut and gently dried - no additives, no sugar.

Origin

From the tree in the tropical lowlands.

In the tropical lowland regions of Sri Lanka, the mighty jackfruit trees bear fruit all year round. Our partner families harvest them shortly before full ripeness - that is when the flesh is mild and neutral, just right as the base for a versatile powder.

Harvest & processing

Removed by hand, gently dried.

The fruits are cut open, the flesh is removed from the core by hand and cut into thin slices. It is then gently dried and finely ground. 100% jackfruit, no additives, no sugar, no flavourings.

The powder

Mild, neutral, versatile.

Jackfruit Powder

Finely ground and neutral in taste - a plant-based substitute for flour and binding agents that keeps doughs moist and gives them structure.

How to use

Bake, bind, thicken.

2-3 tbsp replace part of every 500 g of flour and make doughs moister and better structured - ideal for bread and baked goods. In vegan cooking the powder binds and is filling; in smoothies and bowls it adds body without masking any flavour of its own.

Everything starts in the field. Our smallholder families in Jaffna, the central region and the classic Ceylon growing areas harvest their spices by hand - exactly when the aroma is at its most concentrated. We are on site regularly, know the hands behind every harvest and pay fair prices directly to the families through local partner cooperatives.

Directly after the harvest, the spices are gently dried and taken to our FSSC 22000-certified packing partner facility. There they are cleaned, ground and filled into finished packaging - all still in Sri Lanka. We import only sealed finished products to Darmstadt. Here we store, pick and ship to you the same day.
