Certified without gaps.
Four of our classics carry the EU organic seal. All from Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka. Inspected annually from the field to the final packaging by Ecocert Deutschland GmbH. Here you will find all certificate data and mandatory information.
For us, organic is a documented process. Not a marketing label. Our partner families in Jaffna grow under the Sri Lanka control number LK-BIO-149.144. Processing and final packaging take place directly on site. As the German importer, we are additionally audited annually by Ecocert Deutschland GmbH (DE-ÖKO-005).

Each of our organic classics comes from a personally visited partner family in northern Sri Lanka. More organic varieties will follow in 2026.
What "organic" means at MrCOLOMBO
Six standards. How organic works for us.
Cultivation without synthetic pesticides
Our partner families in Jaffna use no chemical-synthetic plant protection products. Instead: mixed cultivation, manual weed control and natural soil care.
No mineral fertilisers
No artificial nitrogen or phosphorus fertilisers. Instead, organic fertilisation from compost and plant residues of the partner families.
Gentle processing
Only sun drying and mechanical grinding directly in Sri Lanka - without chemicals.
FSSC 22000 for packing at origin
Grinding and final packaging take place at an FSSC 22000-certified packing partner facility in Sri Lanka. We only communicate product- and batch-related evidence when it is available for the goods concerned.
Complete documentation
Every step from cultivation to warehouse is documented. Ecocert Deutschland GmbH inspects the system on site once a year.
Direct trade without middlemen
We buy directly from our smallholder families in Jaffna and the central region. JR-Janathan knows the partners personally and visits them regularly on site.
Sri Lanka reference
What the codes on the packaging mean.
Our organic products come from Sri Lanka. Organic imports from third countries must be inspected on site by an EU-recognised control body. In Sri Lanka this happens under the control number LK-BIO-149.144. The «LK» stands for Sri Lanka.
Because we carry out packaging and labelling in Sri Lanka, LK-BIO-149.144 appears right next to the EU organic logo on every bag. Below it you will find the note "Non-EU agriculture". This mandatory statement tells you where the raw product comes from.
The German side of the inspection is handled by Ecocert Deutschland GmbH (DE-ÖKO-005) from Konstanz. It audits us as the importer once a year on site in Darmstadt.
