Description
Lemongrass in two practical forms: the fine powder can be measured straight in and cooked along with the dish. The dried cuts give tea, stocks and soups a clear, fresh lemongrass aroma and are easy to remove again.

Origin
The lemongrass comes from EU-certified organic cultivation by partner families in Jaffna in the north of Sri Lanka. It is gently dried and, depending on the variety, cut or mechanically ground. Control body: Ecocert Deutschland GmbH, DE-ÖKO-005.
Use
Powder: stir 1/2 to 1 tsp directly into curries, marinades, soups or tea. For a more intense aroma, sweat briefly in oil.
Cuts: let 1 to 2 tsp per cup or portion steep or simmer for 5 to 8 minutes, then strain.

Powder is suited to direct seasoning and stays in the dish. Cuts are ideal for tea, stocks and soups, because they are easy to strain out after steeping.

With the powder, start with 1/2 tsp. For tea or broth, use 1 to 2 tsp of cuts per cup or serving and strain afterwards.

The best-before date is always printed on the label on the back of the pack - that is where the binding value for your batch is stated. For full aroma, store the spices cool, dry and protected from light in the original packaging.

We buy directly from the smallholder families of Sri Lanka, organised through local partner cooperatives. Packing takes place in the country of origin, Sri Lanka, not in Europe. Packing at origin keeps the value where the spices grow and makes for a shorter, transparent chain. At MrCOLOMBO there is no anonymous supply chain.
Four of our classics (organic turmeric powder, organic moringa powder, organic lemongrass powder and organic lemongrass cut) are certified under EU Organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848 (DE-ÖKO-005, Ecocert Deutschland GmbH). Not every variety is organic certified; the labelling and details on the respective product page are authoritative.
