Description

Ceylon Fish Seasoning is a finely balanced spice blend for fried, grilled and steamed fish. All the spices it contains come from Sri Lanka and are brought together in a recipe that needs no salt and no fillers.

The blend tastes fresh, spicy and mild and is finely and evenly ground. This means it can be measured out evenly and used both before and during cooking.

Flavour profile & taste

Lemongrass, fennel and ginger shape the fresh side of the blend. Coriander and cumin give body, turmeric provides warmth and colour. Black pepper and chilli deliberately stay in the background so that the fish's own flavour is preserved.

Origin

100 % origin Sri Lanka: Every ingredient in this blend comes from Sri Lanka. This keeps the origin of the entire recipe clear and traceable, even though several spices are combined.

The exact composition is shown in full on the product page and later on the label. The resealable pouch contains 100 g of spice blend.

Use

Ceylon Fish Seasoning is designed for fried, grilled and steamed fish. The blend can be sprinkled on dry, stirred into oil or added directly during cooking.

  • Pan-fried fish: Add to the fish fillet shortly before frying and spread evenly with a little oil.
  • Oven-baked fish: Stir into oil or coconut milk and brush onto the fish before cooking.
  • Fish curry: Add to onions and ginger, sweat briefly and then deglaze with coconut milk.
  • Seafood: Use sparingly for prawns or squid and finish with lime.

Dosage: For 500 g of fish, start with 1-2 tsp. Dose sparingly for delicate types of fish; season further for robust fish or curry. Salt is added separately.

  • All ingredients from Sri Lanka - one clearly declared origin for the entire blend
