Original family recipe from Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Curry Powder - roasted, hot, original.

Sri Lankan curry tastes different from the mild, sweetish blends from India: darker, bolder, with a roasted aroma. The reason is an elaborate technique - every single ingredient is first roasted separately in the pan before being blended according to the original family recipe. Our curry is made in the manufactory of our partner families in Sri Lanka, from single-origin ingredients - hot and versatile.

Origin

Single ingredients from Sri Lanka.

The base is carefully selected single ingredients from the traditional growing regions of Sri Lanka - single origin, no anonymous wholesale. It is this selection that sets it apart from any old curry blend on the supermarket shelf.

Harvest & processing

Roast first, then blend.

Each spice is first roasted separately in shallow pans - that is the Sri Lankan secret that gives the curry its dark colour and deep roasted aroma. Only then are the ingredients blended according to the original family recipe in our partner families' manufactory and freshly packed.

How to use

The foundation of Sri Lankan cooking.

For a chicken curry (Kukul Mas), 2-3 tbsp per pot for 4 people with coconut milk, garlic, ginger and curry leaves. Just as much the base for vegetable, lentil and fish curries. If you like it stronger, briefly toast the powder before adding the liquid.

Everything starts in the field. Our smallholder families in Jaffna, the central region and the classic Ceylon growing areas harvest their spices by hand - exactly when the aroma is at its most concentrated. We are on site regularly, know the hands behind every harvest and pay fair prices directly to the families through local partner cooperatives.

Directly after the harvest, the spices are gently dried and taken to our FSSC 22000-certified packing partner facility. There they are cleaned, ground and filled into finished packaging - all still in Sri Lanka. We import only sealed finished products to Darmstadt. Here we store, pick and ship to you the same day.
