Frequently asked questions
Answers on origin, quality, shipping and range - in brief.
MrCOLOMBO is a German-Sri Lankan family business based in Darmstadt, run by Janathan Rajakumar (JR). We import spices directly from our smallholder families in Jaffna and the central region of Sri Lanka - without intermediaries.
In Jaffna in the north, in the central region and in the classic Ceylon growing areas of Sri Lanka - e.g. pepper in Badulla and Kandy, organic turmeric and organic lemongrass in Jaffna, Ceylon cinnamon in Ratnapura and Gampaha. Climate, mineral-rich soils and traditional cultivation shape aroma and nutrient density.
We buy directly from the smallholder families of Sri Lanka, organised through local partner cooperatives. Packing takes place in the country of origin, Sri Lanka, not in Europe. Packing at origin keeps the value where the spices grow and makes for a shorter, transparent chain. At MrCOLOMBO there is no anonymous supply chain.
Shipped on business days within 24 h from Darmstadt by DPD or DHL. Delivery time Germany: 2-4 business days. Free shipping from an order value of 30 EUR.
In the main menu under Range - there we list all organic classics, single-origin premium varieties and sets/gift baskets, organised by spice family.
